Credentials & Experience

At Kumu Akamai,
the mission is simple

...to provide personalized, compassionate, and effective tutoring for teenagers with special needs, secondary students learning English, and new teachers who may need guidance with behavior management, organizational and planning skills. I believe that every child has the potential to succeed and thrive, and am dedicated to making that a reality through tailored educational support and a nurturing environment.

My professional credentials include Educational Specialist with MMSN & Autism Authorization, Multiple Subjects, TESOL, and Resource Specialist. My years of experience teaching students in grades 1-12 and tutoring of adults, as well as planning for middle school classes online for a year and a half (during the pandemic).

- When I'm not teaching I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren and taking beach walks.

- I have three grown daughters that I love.

- My dream travel destinations include Italy & Vanuatu.
